About Elmhurst
A small village between Ararat and Avoca on the Pyrenees Highway, Elmhurst is situated at the centre of a diverse agricultural region on the upper reaches of the Wimmera River, bounded by the Pyrenees Ranges and the southern end of the Great Dividing Range.
Farms on the Wimmera River commonly combine cropping and livestock, producing wool, prime lambs, beef, grains, legumes and wine grapes. Elmhurst Recreation Reserve has a picturesque picnic area with an electric barbecue, playground and tables and chairs. The garden area is maintained by the Elmhurst CWA as a memorial to past members.
