Have you noticed the hard work and efforts dedicated to the community by an individual or local group? Head online or pop into the Council offices to nominate them for one of four Australia Day Awards today!
Each year, Ararat Rural City Council recognises and celebrates remarkable citizens and local groups who have made a noteworthy contribution or given outstanding service to our community on Australia Day. The 2023 Australia Day Award’s categories are: Citizen of the Year 2022; Community Project of the Year 2022; Young Citizen of the Year 2022; and Volunteer of the Year 2022.
Ararat Rural City Mayor Jo Armstrong said the Australia Day Awards nominees tend to be remarkable individuals who care deeply about their communities and work tirelessly to make our municipality a better place to live.
“Volunteers are very much the backbone of rural communities - we need dedicated individuals and groups who are willing to share their time to serve in the best interest of their local communities,” Cr Armstrong said.
“These awards acknowledge the efforts and outstanding contribution of people and local groups within our community who – often on top of their day job – dedicate hours for the betterment of our community.
“There are four awards up for nomination, including Citizen of the Year, Young Person of the Year, Community Project of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
“We encourage the community to help us acknowledge the efforts of Ararat Rural City’s residents and community groups by nominating them for an Australia Day Award through the Council website.
The 2023 Australia Day Awards will be presented at the annual Australia Day celebration on 26th January 2023 at Alexandra Oval Community Centre, Waratah Avenue, Ararat.
